The village of Vari Teka is a living community where every being has a place — the pajés who guard the sacred path, the women who carry the wisdom of the plants, the men who build and protect, and the children who learn through play and song.
Together, they form the heart of the Noke Koî people, keeping the ancestral traditions alive in harmony with the forest. Vari Teka also welcomes friends and allies from other lands, who come to learn, share, and walk respectfully beside the community.

MEET OUR TRIBE

chief pina varinawa
Pina Varinawa is the chief (Cacique) of the village of Vari Teka and the son of Vaî-Teka and Tayo Waninawa. He is a spiritual leader, musician, and activist, carrying in his heart the strength of his people and the responsibility of being a bridge between tradition and the contemporary world. Pina’s mission is to protect his territory, culture, and the well-being of his community.
Guided by the wisdom of his elders, Pina leads with vision and dialogue, ensuring that his people live in dignity while keeping their traditions, spirituality, and Indigenous autonomy alive. Through music and sacred songs, he expresses the spirit of the forest, the teachings of his ancestors, and the stories of his people. His art carries the voice of traditional medicine and the message of unity, awakening hearts and strengthening Indigenous identity across cultures.
As an activist, Pina stands for the rights of Indigenous peoples and the protection of the Amazon. He speaks out against injustice and works to ensure that the voices of his people are heard and respected. His commitment defends the Earth, cultural diversity, and the future of generations to come.
Pina has traveled to Mexico and across Europe, sharing his message and participating in international gatherings such as the Ayahuasca Conference, the Medicine Festival in London, and a conference at UNESCO in Paris, among others. Through these encounters, he brings the wisdom of the Noke Koî people to the world and builds bridges between nations and spiritual traditions.
pana kamanawa
Panã Kamãnawa is a young spiritual leader of the Noke Koî people, from the Kamãnawa clan, and the second chief of the village of Vari Teka.
Brother of Memy Kamanawa, he carries forward the spiritual and cultural legacy of his ancestors — a lineage of great healers and guardians of sacred knowledge. From the age of nine, Panã began studying traditional medicine under the guidance of the elders and spiritual leaders of his community.
Today, he is also a Txana — one who studies and preserves the sacred chants and oral history of his people — walking the path of the ancients with humility and devotion. Panã has traveled across Brazil and Europe, sharing the wisdom of his people and guiding others to reconnect with themselves and with nature.
He has taken part in international gatherings such as the Medicine Festival in England and the Ayahuasca Conference 2025, where he represented the Noke Koî voice among many nations.
As a committed activist and teacher, Panã belongs to a new generation of young Indigenous leaders bringing strength, clarity, and vision to their communities. Through the Tara Kawati Project, he works to build bridges between Indigenous and Western worlds, inspired by the example of great leaders from other nations.

memy kamanawa
Memy Kamanawa is one of the founders of the Vari Teka village and serves as its female leader. A woman of strength, wisdom, and gentleness, she embodies the spirit of the forest and acts as a living bridge between ancestral traditions and the modern world.
Since childhood, Memy has walked the path of sacred medicines. She grew up alongside the great Pajé Washme, a respected spiritual leader of her people, and was lovingly guided by her grandmother, a guardian of ancient knowledge. Her parents also follow this path of wisdom — her father is a Pajé, and her mother a dedicated teacher who passed on to her the value of education and knowledge.
Memy is a warrior of light, a woman with a great heart who always cares for those who come to the village. Her voice and feminine energy resonate far beyond the forest. She has traveled many times to Europe, Mexico, and throughout Brazil, sharing her songs, her medicine, and her message of unity among peoples.
She carries the strength of the sacred feminine, balancing power and tenderness, clarity and compassion. Through her journey, Memy beautifully embodies the harmony between tradition and openness, strength and gentleness, teaching and listening.
