ABOUT US
We are the Noke Koî — also known as the “True People.” We are an Indigenous tribe of the Amazon rainforest, living in Vari Teka Village in the state of Acre, Brazil.
For many centuries we have safeguarded our language, ancestral knowledge, culture and spiritual wisdom, resisting the many forces that the modern world brought us. We are one of the few remaining indigenous tribes who speak and have preserved our original language, Noke Vana through the passage of time.
In recent times, we have opened our doors to the Western world, carrying the living message of our culture and the wisdom of the forest beyond our homeland.

THE BIRTH OF VARI TEKA VILLAGE
In the Noke Vana language, Vari Teka means “first ray of sunlight.”
The name was chosen by Chief Pina Varinawa as a tribute to his father — a man of light and wisdom who guided the Noke Koî people with love and vision. This name is a symbol of renewal, a seed, the beginning of a new cycle and the first light after the night.
Vari Teka is more than a place; it is a living vision — a promise to honor life, protect the forest, and safeguard the future of generations to come.
Founded in 2020 by Chief Pina Varinawa and Memy Kamanawa, Vari Teka was created to preserve who we are as Noke Koî — our culture, medicine, language, and sacred bond with the forest.
After the construction of the Cruzeiro road disturbed our land and way of life, Vari Teka became a refuge — a place for our children to grow in freedom and harmony with the Earth, the rivers, and the wisdom of our ancestors.
It is also a space of sharing, where our songs, language, and healing traditions remain alive and open to all who seek to learn from the forest and reconnect with what is truly essential.

OUR VALUES
UNITY
In Vari Teka Village, daily life is guided by simplicity, humility, and respect for all living things.
We are not a modern retreat centre. Our village is a real indigenous, tribal community, rooted in ancient history and guided by sacred ancestral traditions.
We invite you to visit us, collaborate and walk alongside us in reciprocity and integrity, helping to co-create a bridge between our ancestral traditions and the modern world.

our mission
Our mission is to preserve and strengthen our living heritage — the songs, rituals, plant medicines, and ancestral knowledge passed down through countless generations — and to share it with those who seek to walk in harmony with the Earth. Through our teachings, we aim to protect the forest, honor the spirits of nature, and inspire a deeper connection between people and the natural world.

THE Water Well Project
With the support of the Vari Vena association, the community of Vari Teka built its first drinking water well and showers in 2024. This project ended the struggle of walking long distances for clean water and brought lasting health, hygiene, and dignity to the village. Today, families, children, and visitors all benefit from safe water every day.

Community Kupixawa
One of the very first collective projects in our village was the construction of a small Kupixawa, made possible through donations and the dedicated work of Memy and Pina. The Kupixawa is the heart of the community—a sacred space for ceremonies, teachings, and gatherings where ancestral knowledge is shared.

Pina Varinawa's Album
Chief Pina Varinawa carries the ancestral songs of the Noke Kuin. His debut album shares sacred melodies born from the forest, weaving traditional chants with contemporary sounds to honor the spirits, the land, and the living memory of his tribe.
